La Colombe’s Todd Carmichael Envisions Philly as the ‘Port of Brotherly Buzz’

There’s no doubt that La Colombe’s Todd Carmichael can dream big, and for his latest ambitious effort he wants to build a coffee decaffeination facility in Port Richmond. It would be a first for the U.S. Apparently, all other coffee gets stripped of all its jittery juice in either Europe or Vancouver. And that’s not all the onetime Antarctic explorer is conjuring up. He tells Eater Philly that with the country’s only decaf plant up and running, and Port Richmond’s Tioga being a deep water facility, the City of Brotherly Love could be quickly and very easily see itself transformed into the Port of Brotherly Buzz, the largest harbor in the country for coffee shipments.
