It’s Never Too Soon to Start Thinking About Beer Week

Maybe its a symptom of Pliny the Younger fever. Or perhaps like Punxsutawney Phil, the coveted Russian River brew’s appearance in Philly is a harbinger of the beer drinking season ahead. No matter what it is, we’re hearing rumblings of what’s on tap for Philly Beer Week 2012. The festival’s organizers have already lined up a bunch of events, and for those keen on making plans early, they’re putting out what they’re calling “The Sampler.” It’s a 40-page printed guide (not to be confused with the official guide coming in May) to Beer Week, participating bars and breweries, and handful of the “anchor events” that are in store. What’s most exciting is preliminary deets on the Fishtown FestivALE, a daylong bash on Frankford Ave. with live music, tons of beer and food. There’s also something about Beer Olympics taking place at the Navy Yard. Keep an eye out for the Sampler at popular watering holes throughout the city this weekend.
