Last week we told you that the insanity that surrounds the annual release of Russian River Brewing Co.’s Pliny the Younger was sweeping the City of Brotherly Suds, and today it’s going to come to head. Two barrels of the seldom-seen triple IPA are going on tap, and its doubtful they will last very long. The first one gets tapped at Monk’s at 11:30 a.m. Six ounce glasses will go for $15. And Monk’s is only accepting cash for them. But before you get your nose out joint, remember that Monk’s owners Tom Peters and Fergus “Fergie” Carey are paying for the barrel completely out of pocket, and donating all sales of today’s Pliny pours to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

Along with Pliny the Younger, Monk’s will have five other Russian River brews on tap, including Consecration, Damnation, and Pliny the Elder. Peters and Carey expect to raise $4,500 alone from the Pliny the Younger for the childhood cancer charity. Their goal for the day is $10,000, which they hope a series of amazing baskets of beer they are raffling off will help them reach.

If you miss out on that, City Tap House will tap another barrel of the Pliny at 7 p.m. Tickets for a glass of the beer go on sale at 6 p.m. Each person is limited to just one $8 ticket. Like Monk’s, the Tap House too will have a ton of other amazing beers on draught.
