Spice Table chef Bryant Ng was named “Best New Chef” by Food & Wine last night, one of ten toques receiving the venerated national nod and the only one picked in L.A. Of the big award, Ng remains ever humble, telling us, “It’s a great honor to be recognized among my peers.” What a dude! Ng also wants everyone to know he’s not the only one who deserves credit for Spice Table’s clinch.

The former Mozza chef de cuisine, who opened Downtown’s sublime Singaporean-Malay-Viet stunner last year, clarifies, “But beyond my own recognition, this award is a testament to the people who work hard everyday at The Spice Table. Without their commitment and dedication, The Spice Table would not exist and neither would the term ‘Best New Chef.’ It is on the shoulders of our employees that chefs are able to run their restaurants and to them I am grateful.” Congratulations to Ng and everyone on his team at Spice Table for the deserved win (yes, even those spicy chicken livers that once conspired to kill us).
