The organizers of 626 Night Market know they have something of great interest to thousands of heads, so they’re trying to do it all over again. This, despite the fact that last month, the Asian food fair all but clogged up Old Town Pasadena, leading to a barrage of yelps from frustrated would-be eaters. The event will return for round two on Saturday, July 28, and to overcome its physical challenges, is relocating to Centennial Square, the giant swaths of green set amongst Pasadena City Hall. The new space is said to be “four times larger” than the previous venue and will come with 10,000 parking spots open to the public. What else will change?

The market is working with the city of Pasadena to ensure a smoother traffic flow, but is not holding back from its goal of bringing a wide range of vendors to the city, as organizers are actually bumping up the number of participants to 200. It appears the city, the visionaries behind 626 Night Market, and the local restaurant community itself is still very much in, recognizing the potential of the ambitious event. Let’s just hope the changes are enough to tempt back the miffed crowd of empty bellies that scurried away the first time around.
