It’s hardly surprising that Marisa “She Can Pickle That” McClellan first learned the fine art of canning while growing up in Portlandia Portland, Oregon. After relocating to Philly, she turned that lifelong love of preserving food into the popular blog foodinjars.com. And now that’s been transformed into print by way of the brand new book Food in Jars: Preserving in Small Batches Year-Round (Running Press). It’s available right now. The book covers everything from the basics for first-timers to more advanced pickling and preserving procedures. In all, the tome includes more than 100 recipes for jams, pickles, chutneys, flavored salts and more. Surely it’s only a matter of time before this book gets optioned for a pickle-y Julie & Julia-like major motion picture.
