Looks like the LCB, no matter how corrupt or incompetent, will live to see another day where it can gouge drinkers with overpriced booze. Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives has called off efforts to privatize the sale of wine and spirits today, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. It’s a sort of stay of execution, though. While the remaining days of this legislative session will be devoted to the state’s budget, House Majority Leader and privatization proponent Mike Turzai promises that the matter will most certainly be revisited when lawmakers return to Harrisburg this fall after their summer break. And that’s pretty much what they said about the fight this time last year. [PPG]
