The Industry, the new Pennsport restaurant and bar that’s mission is to serve those working in the hospitality trade’s trenches that Grub told you Good Dog owners Dave Garry and Heather Gleason were bringing to life in the former Witch space at 1401-1403 East Moyamensing Avenue (near Third and Reed streets), will open Wednesday at 4 p.m. Chef Pat “Weedz” Szoke, who’s resume boasts of stints at Buddakan, Vetri and The Farm and Fisherman, will helm the new spot’s kitchen. His made-from-scratch menu features a variety of seasonally-inspired snacks, small plates and entrees served nightly, Mondays through Fridays, and for brunch on Saturday and Sundays.

Some of the menu’s highlights include cripsy pig ear lettuce wraps with Frank’s Red Hot, julienned vegetables and Bibb lettuce; Kentucky fried Guinea hen with Mexican street corn and cucumber salad; Lamb neck gravy with fresh ricotta and grilled bread; and sweet corn arepas with blistered tomato, cremini mushrooms, poblanos and crème fraîche. One of the daily food-and-drink specials, dubbed “Burger & Bubbles,” presents guests with “The Industry Burger,” a quarter-pound ground brisket burger with Cabot cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayo that’s served with either a glass of champagne or a pony bottle of Miller High Life, poured tableside.

In addition to food, The Industry offers a rotating selection of 12 draft beers, wines from small producers and a tempting collection of cocktails. Check the daily menu here, and the brunch menu here.
