After rocking a “Best Of” menu throughout June to honor the watering hole’s third anniversary, the barkeeps over at Franklin Mortgage & Investment Company this week punched up a new list of cocktails. Complete with drinks filed under headings like "Easy Going" and "Cool It Down," and a fizzy Rebellious Spirit topped with Dogfish Head’s 90 Minute IPA, the new round of libations seems perfectly fit for summertime sipping. Crumbs Bake Shop Deal Has Not Soured

The future home of Crumbs

It’s been a minute since we heard any rumblings of New York-based Crumbs Bake Shop rolling up on the corner of 18th and Moravian streets, near Sansom, with its first local outpost. It’s been so long, in fact, that we (like everyone else) had feared the plan to bring the sweets shop to Rittenhouse had soured. But rest assured, you’ll get your cupcakes and other goodies soon enough. The project is still happening. According to the Insider, Crumbs is waiting on a zoning hearing that’s penciled in for July 17. Provided the company gets the what it needs in terms of zoning, the shop could come to life sometime this fall. [Insider]

Atlantic City’s Unions Are Not Down With Revel’s ‘Term Limits’

RevelPhoto: Revel

Back in January we told you Revel was ruffling organized labor’s feathers in Atlantic City by employing some questionable hiring practices. New hires there, and only there were subject to four to six year “term limits,” which stoked the ire of Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union, which represents many of the gambling destination’s casino workers. In response they launched a petition to force a public vote on Revel’s hiring policy this fall. That, according to CBS Philly, was shot down last week by a city clerk, because it “improperly tied the hands of the City Council and did not have enough signatures.” Now the union’s firing back, saying it indeed has enough votes, and will go to court to prove it, and push for a referendum to appear on November’s ballot. We suspect that this blow-up won’t be the last, and that it’s going to be a very bumpy ride leading up to this fall’s vote. [CBS Philly]

This morning we confirmed that Gordon Dinerman’s plans for Fountainhead Saloon, his Village Whiskey knock-off that was expected to go in at 1537 South 11th Street, near Tasker Street, are off. Rumors have been floating for several weeks that opposition from the neighborhood chased the Birra owner away from the project, and was possibly the reason why he partnered with Rob LaScala for Barra seemingly out of the blue. Grub reached out to Dinerman, but was told by a rep that he had "no comment" about the matter.
