Solomonov and Sbraga Up Their Prix Fixe Game With the Addition of Kitchen Counters
The prix fixe game here continues to get interesting with word coming that Michael Solomonov is adding a kitchen counter at Zahav. At his Israeli flagship the James Beard Award-winning chef, who is also a co-owner of Percy Street Barbecue and Federal Donuts, will serve a $90, 10-course tasting menu. Foobooz reports that the tastings will highlight some of the critically acclaimed restaurant’s signature dishes, as well as more daring and innovative creations. Just one seating will be made available for up to four guests every Friday and Saturday night, beginning in August, but will be invite only for the first few weeks.
This news comes just after Vetri’s decision to up the cost of its tasting menu, which makes it the city’s priciest prix fixe. And like Zahav, Top Chef champ Kevin Sbraga will also introduce a chef’s counter in August. There guests will have the luxury of enjoying a six-course tasting of his culinary explorations for $75 per person, with an optional wine pairing for $50 more.
