Boilermaker Runs Out of Steam

The Grainery Restaurant Group, that’s the crew behind Center City’s Farmers’ Cabinet, and shuttered operations Fork & Barrel in East Falls, and Tap and Table in Emmaus, is calling it quits on Boilermaker, the shot and beer hole they opened in the former Doc Watson’s (and briefly Blue Bear Tavern) space on 11th Street. It only lasted six months. According to the Insider, after reconceptualization the bar will reopen as The Butcher and The Brewer, which will have a butcher shop vibe and serve meat, charcuterie and beer. Jennifer Choplin, formerly of Watkins Drinkery, Resurrection Ale House, and Bistrot La Minette is signed on to head the kitchen. Details are few, and no opening date has been announced, but if we had money on it, we’d say the candlelit schtick will carry over. [Insider]
