Chicken Salad at Mekong River Is ‘Supremely Satisfying’; Eat a Pita a Source For a ‘Healthy Lunch’

• Adam Erace bids farewell to his “Summer of the Mekong River Chicken Salad,” which he enthusiastically calls “refreshment incarnate,” with a review of Pennsport’s new Vietnamese joint Mekong River. The menu, he writes, runs as long as “the Yoo-Hoo-hued river for which it’s named.” Tightly rolled spring rolls are “a must,” while the eye-round, flank-and-tendon pho is “neither the best nor the worst.” Still the aforementioned, “flavor-charged” chicken salad that’s “supremely satisfying and filling in a healthful way” that stands out the most. • Midtown Lunch stops in at just opened Eat A Pita, and finds “tricky acoustics” that make it necessary to shout your order, and that they “were out of rotisserie chicken.” A personalized pita with roasted turkey, and “most of the fixings” sans peppers and chickpeas, “seemed pretty fresh,” and “a healthy lunch.” A “bright, tangy” charred tomato vinaigrette “was definitely  a highlight.” [Midtown Lunch]
