What to Eat on Tiffin’s New Indo-Chinese Menu, Going Live Tonight

Chinese Tiffin: Indo-Chinese goes on the menu.
Chinese Tiffin: Indo-Chinese goes on the menu.

Munish Narula floated the idea of an Indo-Chinese menu being added at Tiffin’s Girard Avenue location after he gave in to customers demands and brought back the popular Tiffin, Etc. Indian pizza and street foods concept back in June. Now it’s looking like that idea — now going by the moniker of Chinese Tiffin — is about to become a reality. It’s going on tonight. Grub got its hands on a copy of the forthcoming menu, and like the Indian pizzas before it, there is nothing like it in this city. For the uninitiated, Indo-Chinese is style of cooking rooted in Calcutta, where immigrants augmented Chinese dishes with Indian ingredients and spices that were readily available in their new found homeland.

At Tiffin that translates into things like vegetables, tofu, fish, chicken or paneer prepared as stir-fries with Kung Pao, an Indian spicy “Szechuan,” or Manchurian sauces. There’s also Indo-Thai-influenced red and green curries, noodle dishes and fried rice. Click here to check out the full menu, which will only be available at Tiffin’s Girard Avenue location.
