Whoa! Restaurant action in the burbs is totally blowing up. Even more so than we had previously thought. We know Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook are days away from throwing the doors open on their glatt kosher restaurant Citron & Rose in Merion. What we didn’t know is, Circles Contemporary Thai Cuisine (aka Circles Thai) owner Alex Boonphaya is opening an outpost of his rapidly unfolding empire just down the road apiece in Bala Cynwyd. It’s the third (fourth, if you count the Newbold mothership’s detached dining room) location of his popular Thai enterprise. Foobooz reports that the new suburban Circles will replace Pa & Pa, which is also specializes in Thai. An opening is expected to come sometime late next month, or possibly in December.
Meanwhile new arrivals in New Jersey are making things on that side of the Delaware River much more interesting. As mentioned earlier this week, Terence Feury’s new Tavro Thirteen just opened in Swedesboro. But that’s not all that’s going on.
In nearby Riverton, former Starr fleet crew members Brian Baglin, Catherine Piotrowski and David Perini are pulling together District 611 for a Novmebr 17 opening. The BYOB will bring wood-fired oven pizzas, and such culinary creations as breakfast potato skins, banh mi spring rolls, and steak frites to the close-knit, riverfront community.
Also on its way to the Jersey side is another Han Dynasty location. Insider reports that Han “the Man” Chiang is bringing his trademark fiery Sichuan to Cherry Hill. The outpost replaces the Japanese restaurant Nagoya in Saw Mill Village. That opening is expected to come in any minute.
