Last fall brought news that Joncarl Lachman was exiting Vincent, his Dutch-American bistro that he founded in 2010, to focus efforts on his HB Home Bistro, and pursue “other projects” in his hometown, Philadelphia. Now comes word that at least one of those other projects is making some headway. Lachman yesterday inked a deal to purchase a property near South Philly’s booming East Passyunk Ave. restaurant row, where he expects to open Noord, a restaurant he’s described as American with a focus on Northern European technique, according to the blog Passyunk Post. What’s more, the chef plans to relocate to the City of Brotherly Love, where plans to live above the space that will house Noord.

Today Lachman told Philly’s Meal Ticket that he’s “super excited to be part of the exciting redevelopment of the East Passyunk corridor.” The restaurant, which he hopes to have opened some time next spring, will reportedly offer a lot of smoked fish, as well as bitterballen (fried meatballs), konijn in het zuur (rabbit and bacon in a vinegar sauce), and snert (pea soup). Lachman is the second out-of-towner to announce plans for a restaurant in this neighborhood. Last month Charlie Plamer alum, Christopher Lee said he was planning to open a restaurant around the corner in what’s now Salt & Pepper.
