Silver Lake neighbors are claiming temporary victory in their long-simmering battle with Los Globos, the hot-spot owned by Steve Edelson that housed “A Club Called Rhonda” and a steady succession of live shows. The Eastsider L.A. relays the news that the L.A. Police Commission canceled all of the venue’s public live music and dance privileges, citing a lack of the appropriate permits. While the club is applying for the proper paperwork to be put back in place, tonight’s scheduled “Halloween Fever in Outer Space” is seeking another universe to trip out in, much like other booked acts that are currently trying to re-establish alternatives as the club clings to plans to provide only to private parties until it gets street-legal again. The nightlife destination is often cited as the target of the city’s quieter denizens, who have complained about late-night revelers making noise (and love) after leaving the club. Writes one annoyed Eastsider commenter, ” Turn the corner off of Sunset Blvd and you’re in a suburb. Keep that in mind or keep the place closed.”
