Good news: Philadelphia Brewing Company began shipping its autumn seasonal Harvest From The Hood yesterday, and it couldn’t come at a better time. For the uninitiated, it’s the Kenzinger maker’s wet hop ale. Each year it’s brewed almost immediately after homegrown hops are harvested at the brewery and nearby at Greensgrow Farm. The freshly picked hops add a bold grassy and citrus character that’s balanced by caramel-y malt backbone. And its showing up at beer distributors, bottle stores and on draft lists just as the seasonally affective pumpkin beer fatigue is reaching a fever pitch. It’s also one of the beers that will be on tap Saturday during Grey Lodge Pub’s Hardy-Har-Harvest stand-up comedy and wet-hopped beer night.
