Monk’s and Belgian Cafe co-owner Tom Peters is digging deep into his storied vaults of old, rare and unusual beers for Thursday’s visit from beer writers Stephen Beaumont and Tim Webb. The two just dropped their World Atlas of Beer, a 256-page compendium to the many varied styles of ales and beers enjoyed all around the world. The early word is, this book is just as essential to your drinking library as Michael Jackson’s definitive 1977 book World Guide to Beer. The bottles Peters has unearthed will be paired with dishes Belgian Cafe came up with for a special beer dinner being held in honor of the authors. That happens after a book signing over at Monk’s.

From 5 to 6 p.m. both authors will hang at Monk’s to talk a little bit about, and sign copies of World Atlas of Beer. Then at 7 p.m. the two will settle in at Belgian Cafe, where they will continue talking beer, their book, and the sampling of world-sourced beers that Peters has lined up for the five course feast. The $60 per plate dinner is one seating only, and has limited availability. Reservations are must, and can be made by calling (215) 235-3500.
