Is Avram Hornik Doubling Down on South Broad With a Dolphin Tavern Revival?

Avram Hornik, who has been on an empire building spree of late, is rumored to have yet another iron in the fire. After giving life to Union Transfer, he resuscitated Ortlieb’s Lounge, and then brought the riverfront’s Octo/Rock Lobster space back into action with Morgan’s Pier. And if all goes according to plan, he will deliver a newly rehabbed Boot & Saddle in early 2013. Now it looks as if he’s turning his attention to shuttered South Broad Street divey go-go bar, Dolphin Tavern, which closed back in August. Passyunk Post is reporting that Hornik’s Four Corners Management is behind efforts to revive the jiggle-joint that started hitting the skids after the Navy Yard was decommissioned in 1995.

Supposedly Hornik and company are shooting for a dive-chic go-go bar much like the recently revived J+J Trestle Inn in the Eraserhood. PP’s post and corresponding photos detail work being done to fix up the bar’s original trimmings, dance floor and possibly the addition of a dressing room for dancers on the second floor. So far Hornik hasn’t owned up to any of this. Still, here’s hoping it’s all true.
