In the early part of the year we tried a number of upcoming restaurants at things like the Dose Market, and most of them were well on their way to opening within a few months. Then there was Honey Butter Fried Chicken, from the Sunday Dinner Club chefs, which got a boost of publicity and then went radio silence for months. We heard they were just having trouble finding a space… but everyone finds that hard, yet somehow they wind up somewhere. Well, at last Honey Butter Fried Chicken has quit playing the field and settled down, too. An announcement to its mailing list this morning announced that Honey Butter will be opening next spring at 3361 N. Elston (at Roscoe), former home of a longtime Mexican restaurant called La Finca which closed earlier in the year. Besides a vintage building completely with long-hidden tin ceiling, it has a large back patio, which suggests that when spring comes, all this will have been worth the wait. [Chicagoist]
