Jersey Mike’s Brings Its Subs to Hoagietown

Earlier today we talked a little bit about how a bunch of Starr vets were bringing a taste of Philly dining to the Jersey burbs. Now its looking like old Dirty Jerz is sending one of its own back over the the Delaware. Jersey Mikes Subs, a sandwich franchise with 600 locations that was founded in Point Pleasant in 1956 just set up shop at 30th Street Station. The franchisee, The Grove Inc., is also behind the new Wendys that also just opened in the mini food court on the stations concourse. The sandwich makers commitment to using only house-baked bread, and private label meats (not to mention offering a cheesesteak) deserves some props. Its the flagrant use of the word sub here in the heart of hoagietown that doesnt sit so well with us. They should be a little more careful when it comes to regional sandwich nomenclature. It didnt work out so well for Mitt Romney when he got it wrong.
