Take Your Shopping List (and Your Hungry Self) to Fete Chicago’s Debut Thursday

When three of the people who launched Dose Market, Heather Sperling, Jessica Herman and Emily Fiffer, parted ways with the fourth, April Francis back in July, they hinted pretty strongly at parlaying their connections with the food world into a similar event with equally cool food offerings. (There’s also all kinds of fashiony and gifty stuff involved, too, but let’s stay focused, people.) The premiere event this Thursday evening will at last be your chance to see how that worked out— but based on the lineup, we don’t think there’s much doubt.

Just consider a few of the vendors who’ll be serving or selling (and selling almost always goes with samples for tasting): Publican Quality Meats will be there with snacks, sausages and an assortment of artisanal products. Mindy Segal will be there serving Hot Chocolate’s hot chocolate and selling marshmallows and cookies. Illinois Sparkling Co. will be pouring complimentary bubbly (including one called Freak of Nature, made by Cleetus Friedman of City Provisions). Co-Op Sauce. Rare Tea Cellar. Carriage House. La Sirena Clandestina. Bang Bang Pies. Old Town Social. The Butcher & Larder. What more do we have to say? That a portion of the proceeds will go to Fresh Moves, which serves food deserts? It’s from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday at Room 1520, an event space in the West Loop at 1520 W. Fulton; get more info here.
