Cedar Point Bar & Kitchen, the Fishtown follow-up to Shannon Dougherty and Liz Petersen’s Full Plate Cafe, passed its health inspection yesterday and is just about ready to open. Dougherty tells Grub that all that stands in their way now is getting final approval from LCB, which could take seven to 10 more days. She expects the new venture, which is going in across from Loco Pez at the six-spoked intersection where East Norris Street collides with Susquehanna Avenue, and Cedar Street, to open by St. Patrick’s Day. Dougherty, who describes herself as a local Irish girl who was a Southern Belle in a previous life, has drawn up a menu that she says will be a split between “70’s housewife” and “Southern comforts.”
Like its Full Plate predecessor, which she and Petersen closed last December, at least half of the dishes on the menu will be vegetarian-friendly.
The 50-seater will have 12 to 14 seats at the bar. In warmer weather, an additional eight to 10 tables will seat guests on the large deck out front. The bar will feature 15 taps, lots of bottles, and a cocktail program that will put forth dark and stormies made with house-brewed ginger beer, kale martinis, and Bloody Marys made with fermented beet juice.
