Crain’s had a pair of stories about interesting openings on the North Shore. Farmhouse, the craft beer and farm to table food tavern on Chicago Avenue downtown, is planning to open a second location near a different Chicago Avenue, the north-south-running one in Evanston. It will be joining Found as one of the few true farm-to-table spots in Evanston sometime in May at 703 Church Street. [Crain’s]

Meanwhile, an experienced if not household-name level chef from downtown will be settling soon in Glencoe. Christian Ragano was a sous chef at NoMI under Sandro Gamba and Christophe David before going to New York to be executive chef of New York Central in the Grand Hyatt New York. He’s returning to Chicago to head up Guildhall, which is being built by a team including the founder of Homemade Pizza in an historic Prairie-style building. 555 International, who did Girl & the Goat and Balena, is designing the space to use as much of the vintage character as possible. It’s set to open in March. [Crain’s]
