So it’s looking like Volver, the next effort from Jose Garces that we previously reported was coming to the Kimmel Center sometime in the weeks ahead, has been dealt some setbacks. And due to those snags, the crowning jewel of the Iron Chef’s growing restaurant empire probably won’t be serving guests until next fall. Buried deep in a piece about the 100-foot cylindrical time machine that’s currently under construction inside the Kimmel ahead of this coming summer’s International Festival of the Arts, today’s Inky touches briefly on the restaurant’s holdup. The logjam comes in the form of overruns in construction costs. But Kimmel president and chief executive Anne Ewers says they’ve come up with workarounds. Now construction is set to begin next month, and the restaurant will likely be completed by September. A Garces pop-up will be in effect for the arts festival. [Inquirer]
