So it looks like a corner pizzeria won’t be replacing South Philly’s shuttered Carman’s Country Kitchen after all. Back when news first broke that Carman Luntzel was hanging up her apron, and closing down her kitschy and kooky breakfast and lunch spot, word was that a pizza joint was slated to move in. Now it’s appears as if it will actually be a Portuguese number called Porto. The Insider reports that Christine Liskowicz, who has spent time on the pots and pans at Sabrina’s, is bringing the new venture to the corner of 11th and Wharton streets sometime this summer, and that work is already underway inside.
