Matt Moon Let Go From Saint James

Former Talula’s Table chef Matt Moon can’t seem to get a break. After lengthy, and mostly favorable stint at the Kennett Square restaurant, which today is still one of the country’s toughest reservations, he was brought on to head the kitchen at the Table’s offshoot, the Stephen Starr-backed Talula’s Garden. But after just a few weeks there, he mysteriously flew the coop, only to resurface at Sampan some months later. From there, Sampan owner Michael Schulson enlisted Moon for Saint James, the suburban venture he launched last fall with Rouge and 500 Degrees owner Rob Wasserman. The Insider reports that he’s since been let go, and that Schulson has stepped in to run the show in his absence. More than likely, Saint James’ shortcomings, which have been noted several times in a string of lackluster reviews, are the reason for the shakeup. Here’s hoping Moon finds a soft landing, and that Schulson can right the ship. [Insider; Earlier]
