Student Guest Workers File Federal Complaints Against McDonald’s

Still not lovin' it.
Still not lovin’ it.

Student guest workers who were involved in yesterday’s protests over alleged severe exploitation at multiple McDonald’s locations near Harrisburg found themselves locked out of their tiny, cramped and crowded basement living quarters last night. No surprise, really. Their landlord, Andy Cheung, is also the Mickey D’s franchisee they were raging against during their walkout. They were ultimately let in by Cheung’s son, but according to Patriot News, only after local police showed up on the scene. Now the guest workers are taking their fight to the next level. According to a prepared statement, they’ve filed formal complaints against McDonald’s with Department of State and Department of Labor that detail sub-minimum wage pay, wage theft, overpriced substandard housing, and retaliation against students to suppress lawful complaints.
