Margaritaville Set to Open in May at Resorts; Garces ‘Noodling’ With a New Concept at Revel

Margaritaville coming soon.
Margaritaville coming soon.

It’s been more than a year in the making, but it looks like Atlantic City will soon see a completed Margaritaville spill out from Resorts Casino Hotel to the boardwalk, and on to the beach before the end of May. A rep for the project tells Grub that the huge casino upgrade will be ready for guests just in time for the start of Memorial Day Weekend. More than simply a bar or restaurant with a celebrity’s name attached, Margaritaville is comprised of multiple concepts inspired by the “lyrics and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett.” When opened it will include a Margaritaville restaurant, which will seat as many as 448, LandShark Bar & Grill, a year-round beach front bar, Five O’Clock Somewhere Bar, which will have “eye-catching flair bartenders,” a Buffett-ized casino, retail shop, and a coffee shop.

Working with in-house talent, troubled Revel has some changes in the works for the coming season too. One, the stylish, yet casual restaurant and bar that debuted with Revel last year, but went dark after service wrapped on New Year’s Day, has been operating as Two, a late-night burgers and hot dogs joint lately. Atlantic City Insiders report that LDV Hospitality, the New York-based company that operates Azure, American Cut by Marc Forgione and Lugo Caffe, will take over the space and turn it into a 24-hour restaurant.

And over at Amada, Jose Garces’ flagship at the casino, the Planxa Bar is being revamped too. The Garces gang is retooling the concept, taking it from grab-and-go tapas to an Asian noodle bar. There’s no word on when it will be complete, but we’re hoping Chifa chef Natalie Maranski’s foie-laden ramen makes the cut for the menu.
