South Philly’s ever-expanding restaurant landscape is about to get a new addition of the Indian persuasion. Tiffin and Tashan mogul, Munish Narulla, is working on securing a location for an Indian bistro there. Foobooz reports that the new concept will serve as a sort of half-way point between Tiffin’s casual, let-it-all-hang-out vibe, and Tashan’s button-downed sophistication. It will have a liquor license, and a chef whose resume includes stints at New York’s Junoon, San Francisco’s Amber India, and London’s Cinnamon Club. All that’s missing is a location and an opening date. Let the speculation begin. How’s the long-vacant Colombo’s spot at the bottom of East Passyunk Ave. for starters? [Foobooz]

Update: A rep for Narula just told Grub Street that the Tiffin Bistro is going into the Kris space near 11th and Federal streets, and that he expects a quick turnaround. Like within six to eight weeks. He jokingly added, “as long as paperwork clears!”
