Chinamoto, the long-awaited addition to 777 South Broad Street, makes its debut today. Its the first local outpost for Kelvin Lee Sin whose restaurant portfolio includes Buddha by Kenji Fusion in Kansas City, MO, and similar restaurants in Virginia. The sprawling, 4,100 square foot space, which sits directly next door to Munish Narulas Tashan, sports a bar and lounge-y space, sushi bar, dining room, and two Tatami tables all appointed in dark woods, black leather and bright red illuminated accents. Right now a limited menu offers sushi, tempura chicken and vegetables, fried honey wings, Korean beef, red and green Thai curries and more. Additional Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Korean inspired dishes will be added in the weeks to come. A liquor license is also in the works, and should be ironed out by the end of next week.
