Strangelove’s, the latest effort from gastropub empire builders Brendan Hartranft and Leigh Maida who own perennial faves Memphis Taproom, Resurrection Ale House, and Local 44, swings open the doors tonight for the first time. It fills the void left vacant on 11th Street when The Butcher & The Brewer closed shop back in November. The spot will feature 18 taps, two beer engines and a menu from former Catahoula chef Paul Martin. And based upon the previous successes of Hartranft and Maida’s other joints, it’s a safe bet this place will enjoy some longevity. Tonight the kitchen’s sending out complimentary bites from 5 to 10 p.m.. Tomorrow regular service begins at 11 a.m. In the weeks to come, expect happy hours and weekend brunch.
