PA Preferred Puts Dad’s Hat Whiskey Makers in Focus

More than a year after Herman Mihalich and John Copper first entered our orbit as the small-batch, artisan distillers behind Bristol, Bucks County’s Mountain Laurel Spirits and its signature Dad’s Hat brand of old school Pennsylvania-style rye whiskies, the two appear to be going full steam with their White Rye, Rye Whiskey, and occasional special, single barrel releases. In weeks to come they will add a Port Barrel-Aged Rye Whiskey, their rye finished with three months in a port wine barrel, and a Vermouth Barrel-Aged Rye Whiskey, finished for three months in a sweet vermouth barrel, to their line of products. And then in 2014, they will debut a Straight Rye Whiskey, that’s been aged for at least two years. In the meantime here’s a cool video that PA Preferred shot of Mihalich and Cooper talking about Dad’s Hat and the mostly Pennsylvania-grown and -sourced ingredients that go into it.
