Luke’s Lobster, the New York based crustacean concern from former Maine lobsterman Luke Holden that we mentioned a few weeks ago, throws open the doors on its new Rittenhouse location today at noon. In days to come it will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving its truly, authentic — read: no lobster salad, no thick gobs of celery-laden mayonnaise — lobster rolls on real New England-style, split-top buns. In addition to the unadulterated lobster, Luke’s offers crab and shrimp rolls; Empress claws cooked, shelled, chilled, and served with cocktail sauce; soups like clam chowder, shrimp and corn chowder, and lobster bisque; plus chips, desserts and soft drinks all imported from the coast of Maine. In weeks to come, keep an eye out for late-night hours on the weekends, and additional menu items geared toward the post-bar crowd.

Luke’s Lobster, 130 South 17th Street, no phone yet.
