What a Mess

Who would jump at the chance to move into D.C.’s Trump International Hotel now that José Andrés and Geoffrey Zakarian gave the Donald the boot (following his likening of Mexican immigrants to rapists)? The answer has come, and perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s a less impressive “get”: The flagship restaurant will be another BLT Prime, D.C.’s first, it’s true, but the country’s third and Trump’s second (his other is in Miami).

ESquared Hospitality, which reigns over the BLT empire, tells the Washington Post the money made it too hard to say no. “It’s a business decision, 100 percent,” the group’s president said. BLT Prime is the slightly fancier version of BLT Steak, a steakhouse chain already in 14 cities (the Waikiki one, it’s worth noting, is also in a Trump hotel). In the meantime, the Trump Organization’s two $10 million breach-of-contract lawsuits against Andrés and Zakarian are trucking ahead at full speed.
